OUTREACH MINISTRY

Nursing Home Ministry:

serves Holy Cross Parishioners who are currently residents of nursing homes in the parish vicinity. Pastoral Visitors and Eucharistic Ministers show care, concern, and the compassion of Jesus. We also serve the nursing home community at large with services coordinated with the Nursing Home administration.

EUCHARISTIC VISITS

Eucharistic Ministers visit parishioners in nursing homes regularly, usually on a weekly basis, to provide the comfort of the sacrament of the Eucharist.

Hospital Ministry:

A Eucharistic Minister is scheduled to take the Blessed Sacrament to Indian River Memorial Hospital each Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday after Mass. This process extends the Mass with Holy Communion to the sick along with the prayers and the blessings of the celebrant and the congregation as the Eucharistic Minister is dispatched. We truly become the body of Christ.

Ministry to the Sick and Shut In:

A beautiful part of the Eucharistic Ministry is that of visiting the sick and the homebound on a daily or weekly basis. Our parish is divided into 3 sections, with a "leader" responsible for scheduling visitation. All requests for visits are made through the church office.

HOLY CROSS PARISH HOME VISITORS

Parishioners visit to bring news of the parish and provide a conection with the parish. The Pastoral visitor visits regularly to get to know the resident, shares experiences, provides friendly social communication, brings a sense of connection and concern to be a light in their day. Volunteers help determine areas of need, whether it be medical, food, housecleaning, etc....and serve as a referal to the proper professional agencies.
